เมื่อวันที่ 24 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ ร่วมกับ Queer Screen จัดฉายภาพยนตร์เรื่อง วิมานหนาม (The Paradise of Thorns) ในเทศกาลภาพยนตร์ Mardi Gras Film Festival ครั้งที่ 32 ณ Event Cinema George Street นครซิดนีย์ โดยได้รับความสนใจอย่างล้นหลามจากผู้ชมที่สนใจภาพยนตร์ไทยและภาพยนตร์ที่นำเสนอประเด็นเกี่ยวกับความหลากหลายทางเพศ โดยผู้เข้าชมภาพยนตร์ได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมบันทึกภาพแห่งความประทับใจในการร่วมเฉลิมฉลองเทศกาล Mardi Gras ที่สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ จัดขึ้นด้วย

ในโอกาสนี้ นางหัทยา คูสกุล กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ พร้อมด้วย อาจารย์ Thomas Baudinette อาจารย์อาวุโสด้านวัฒนธรรมนานาชาติ จาก Macquarie University และ นายฐิสาณัฒิ แก้วนุกูล เจ้าหน้าที่ส่งเสริมสุขภาพชุมชน โครงการ Asian Gay, Bi+, Queer Men’s Project แห่ง ACON Health ได้ร่วมกล่าวในพิธีเปิดเกี่ยวกับภาพยนตร์และซีรีส์ LGBTQ+ ของไทย ซึ่งได้รับความนิยมอย่างแพร่หลายในหลายประเทศ รวมถึงออสเตรเลีย และกล่าวถึง พ.ร.บ. สมรสเท่าเทียมของประเทศไทย ซึ่งถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมสิทธิมนุษยชนและการแสดงออกทางเพศ โดยประเทศไทยนับเป็นประเทศแรกในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่ออกกฎหมายสมรสเท่าเทียม ในช่วงท้ายของงาน Queer Screen ได้จัดให้ผู้ชมร่วมประเมินความพึงพอใจหลังการรับชมภาพยนตร์ ซึ่งได้รับผลตอบรับอย่างดีมาก

On 24 February 2025, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Sydney, in collaboration with Queer Screen, hosted a special screening of The Paradise of Thorns as part of the 32nd Mardi Gras Film Festival at Event Cinema, George Street, Sydney. The event was organized to celebrate gender equality and received overwhelming interest from both Thai and international audiences, including those passionate about the Thai film and LGBTQ+ issues.

During the event, attendees enjoyed activities organized by the Royal Thai Consulate-General to capture memorable moments and celebrate the Mardi Gras Festival.

On this occasion, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, Dr. Thomas Baudinette, Senior Lecturer in Global Cultures at Macquarie University and Thisanut Kaewnukul, Community Health Promotion Officer ACON’s Asian Gay, Bi+, Queer Men’s Project, ACON Health, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. They highlighted the growing international popularity of Thai LGBTQ+ films and series, particularly in Australia. Additionally, they highlighted Thailand’s Marriage Equality Act, a significant milestone in advancing LGBTQ+ rights and gender equality. Notably, Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to enact such legislation, reaffirming its commitment to equality and inclusion. At the end of the event, Queer Screen invited the audience to share their feedback on the film, which received overwhelmingly positive responses.
