เมื่อวันที่ 3 กันยายน 2567 นางสาวอาจารี ศรีรัตนบัลล์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงแคนเบอร์รา พร้อมด้วยนางหัทยา คูสกุล กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์และคณะ เยือนมหาวิทยาลัยนิวเซาท์เวลส์ (University of New South Wales: UNSW) และพบหารือกับ ศ. Colin Grant รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายต่างประเทศของมหาวิทยาลัย เพื่อหารือถึงแนวทางส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชนและสถาบันการศึกษาของไทยกับ UNSW ทั้งการต่อยอดความร่วมมือที่มีอยู่เดิม โดยเฉพาะการส่งเสริมการทำวิจัยร่วม การจัดหลักสูตรปริญญาร่วม การอบรมและแลกเปลี่ยนบุคลากร และการขยายความร่วมมือใหม่ ๆ อาทิ การจัดทำหลักสูตรฝึกอบรมระยะสั้น ระยะกลางและระยะยาวร่วมกับภาคการศึกษา ภาครัฐ และภาคเอกชนของไทย รวมถึงความเป็นไปได้การเปิดวิทยาเขต/สาขาในประเทศไทย ทั้งนี้ สาขาที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายมีความสนใจร่วมกัน ได้แก่ ด้านการแพทย์และสาธารณสุข นวัตกรรมและเทคโนโลยี เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพ เคมีชีวภาพ AI กลศาสตร์ควอนตัม ความมั่นคงไซเบอร์ เทคโนโลยีการเกษตร พลังงานสีเขียว และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน
ปัจจุบัน UNSW มีนักศึกษาลงทะเบียนมากกว่า 65,000 คนต่อปี เป็นนักศึกษาไทยกว่า 200 คน โดยหลักสูตรที่ได้รับความนิยมมากที่สุดในปัจจุบัน ได้แก่ วิศวกรรมศาสตร์ บริหารธุรกิจ นิติศาสตร์ และการแพทย์
ในโอกาสนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ และกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้พบปะผู้แทนนักศึกษาไทยที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ที่ UNSW และสอบถามเกี่ยวกับชีวิตความเป็นอยู่และเยี่ยมชมกิจกรรมของชมรมนักศึกษาไทยในมหาวิทยาลัยด้วย
On 3 September 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, along with Ms. Hataya Khusakul, Consul General in Sydney, visited University of New South Wales (UNSW),
and met with Prof. Colin Grant, Vice-Chancellor Global UNSW. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Thai government agencies, private sectors, and educational institutions with UNSW. This included building on existing collaborations, particularly in joint research, joint degree programmes, training programmes and student exchanges, as well as exploring new areas of cooperation such as developing short, medium, and long-term training programmes with Thai public and private agencies. Areas of mutual interests include medicine and public health, innovation and technology, biotechnology, biochemical engineering, AI, quantum, cybersecurity, agricultural technology, green energy, and sustainable development.
Currently, UNSW has more than 65,000 students enrolled each year, including over 200 Thai students. The most popular programmes are engineering, business administration, law, and medicine.
On this occasion, the Ambassador and the Consul-General met with representatives of Thai students studying at UNSW, inquired about their living conditions, and visited activities organized by the Thai student association at the university.
