ในโอกาสที่นางสาวโชติมา เอี่ยมสวัสดิกุล อธิบดีกรมเจรจาการค้าระหว่างประเทศ กระทรวงพาณิชย์และคณะเดินทางมาประเทศออสเตรเลียเพื่อเข้าร่วมการประชุมคณะกรรมาธิการร่วมความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย-ออสเตรเลีย (TAFTA-JC) ครั้งที่ 5 และการประชุมยุทธศาสตร์ทางเศรษฐกิจ (Strategic Economic Dialogue: SED) ครั้งที่ 2 ณ กรุงแคนเบอร์รา ระหว่างวันที่ 8 – 12 มี.ค. 2569 นายนฤชัย นินนาท กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ พร้อมข้าราชการทีมประเทศไทยนำคณะอธิบดีกรมเจรจาการค้าระหว่างประเทศเข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนาย Anoulack Chanthivong รัฐมนตรีด้านอุตสาหกรรมและการค้าแห่งรัฐนิวเซาท์เวลส์ และพบหารือกับผู้แทนจากหน่วยงาน Investment NSW ได้แก่ นาย Edan Corkill ตำแหน่ง Executive Director, Trade and International นาง Elizabeth Bowron ตำแหน่ง Director, Priority Markets, Trade and International และนาง Marina Kapetas, ตำแหน่ง Associate Director, Priority Markets, Southeast Asia, Trade and International เมื่อวันที่ 9 มี.ค. 2569

ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องว่าไทยและออสเตรเลียต่างมีนโยบายด้านการส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจการค้าและการลงทุนที่สอดคล้องกัน สามารถส่งเสริมซึ่งกันและกันได้ และได้หารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางความร่วมมือในอุตสาหกรรมแห่งอนาคต โดยเฉพาะในสาขาที่มีศักยภาพในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจและนวัตกรรม อาทิ ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ เทคโนโลยีเซมิคอนดักเตอร์ขั้นสูง อุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์แห่งอนาคต พลังงานสีเขียวและพลังงานหมุนเวียน เทคโนโลยีการเกษตรสมัยใหม่ ตลอดจนเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล นอกจากนี้ ยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองเกี่ยวกับประเด็นด้านที่อยู่อาศัย และบทบาทของเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมในการสนับสนุนการพัฒนาเมืองและเศรษฐกิจอย่างยั่งยืนในอนาคต รวมถึง พัฒนาการความร่วมมือด้านเศรษฐกิจดิจิทัลในกรอบความร่วมมืออาเซียน

ทั้งนี้ เมื่อวันที่ 8 มี.ค. 2569 กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ร่วมกับข้าราชการทีมประเทศไทยจัดการบรรยายสรุปให้กับคณะ และเป็นเจ้าภาพเลี้ยงอาหารค่ำเพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่คณะที่บ้านพักกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ด้วย

During 8–9 March 2026, Ms. Chotima Iemsawasdikul, Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, visited Sydney as part of her visit to Australia to attend the 5th Thailand–Australia Free Trade Agreement Joint Commission (TAFTA-JC) Meeting and the 2nd Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED), which will be held in Canberra during 10–12 March 2026.

On 9 March 2026, Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, together with Team Thailand officials in Sydney, led the delegation to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Anoulack Chanthivong, New South Wales Minister for Industry and Trade. The delegation also held discussions with representatives from Investment NSW, including Mr. Edan Corkill, Executive Director, Trade and International, Ms. Elizabeth Bowron, Director, Priority Markets, Trade and International and Ms. Marina Kapetas, Associate Director, Priority Markets, Southeast Asia, Trade and International.

Both sides agreed that Thailand and Australia share aligned policies in promoting trade, investment, and economic development, which can complement and reinforce one another. They discussed potential cooperation in future-oriented industries, particularly in sectors with strong potential to drive economic growth and innovation, including artificial intelligence (AI), advanced semiconductor technologies, future mobility and automotive industries, green and renewable energy, agritech, as well as digital technologies. The two sides also exchanged views on housing-related issues and the role of technology and innovation in supporting sustainable urban and economic development in the future, as well as developments in digital economy cooperation within the ASEAN framework.

On 8 March 2026, the Consul-General, together with Team Thailand officials in Sydney, hosted a briefing session for the delegation. The Consul-General also hosted a dinner in honour of the delegation at the Consul-General’s residence.
