เมื่อวันที่ 9 เมษายน 2568 นางหัทยา คูสกุล เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะเพื่ออำลา Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales ในโอกาสครบวาระการดำรงตำแหน่งกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์

ในโอกาสนี้ กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ขอบคุณผู้สำเร็จราชการฯ ที่ได้ให้คำแนะนำและการสนับสนุนตลอดช่วงเวลาการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในรัฐนิวเซาท์เวลส์ ผู้สำเร็จราชการฯ และคู่สมรสได้ให้เกียรติมาร่วมงาน Thai Festival ที่สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ จัดขึ้นในปี 2565 ด้วย

กงสุลใหญ่ฯ เรียนให้ผู้สำเร็จราชการฯ ทราบถึงความก้าวหน้าของความสัมพันธ์ที่ใกล้ชิดระหว่างไทยและออสเตรเลียในช่วงที่ผ่านมา ทั้งด้านการค้า การลงทุน วัฒนธรรมและการท่องเที่ยว โดยในปี 2565 ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้จัดกิจกรรมฉลองครบรอบ 70 ปีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูต และมีการแลกเปลี่ยนการเยือนกันเป็นระยะ โดยในปี 2567 นายกรัฐมนตรีของไทยได้มาเยือนออสเตรเลียเพื่อร่วมการประชุม ASEAN-Australia Special Summit และเมื่อเดือนธันวาคมที่ผ่านมา รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้เดินทางมาร่วมการประชุมกับรัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศออสเตรเลีย และเดินทางเยือนนครซิดนีย์ เพื่อพบหารือกับนักธุรกิจออสเตรเลียและพบปะชุมชนไทยด้วย

กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ยินดีที่ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกันมีพัฒนาการอย่างต่อเนื่อง การประกาศยุทธศาสตร์ Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 ของรัฐบาลออสเตรเลียที่มุ่งมั่นจะกระชับความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจระหว่างกันในทุกมิติ สร้างความตระหนักรู้ถึงโอกาสด้านการค้าและการลงทุนในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ให้แก่ภาคเอกชนออสเตรเลีย และการประกาศแผนความร่วมมือต่าง ๆ ภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ดังกล่าวจะช่วยขับเคลื่อนให้ความสัมพันธ์ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจมีความใกล้ชิดกันมากยิ่งขึ้น

ในโอกาสนี้ กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ขอบคุณรัฐบาลรัฐนิวเซาท์เวลส์ที่ได้ให้การดูแลชุมชนไทยเป็นอย่างดี ชุมชนไทยได้รับการยอมรับเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสังคมพหุวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น และได้มีบทบาทสำคัญในการช่วยเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมไทย ช่วยเสริมสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจและความสัมพันธ์ในระดับประชาชนให้ใกล้ชิดยิ่งขึ้น

ผู้สำเร็จราชการฯ ได้กล่าวขอบคุณที่กงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในความรับผิดชอบได้ลุล่วงเรียบร้อยในช่วงที่ผ่านมา และหวังว่าการกลับไปปฏิบัติหน้าที่ที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศในครั้งนี้จะได้มีบทบาทขับเคลื่อนความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกันสืบต่อไป

On 9 April 2025, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul paid a farewell courtesy call on Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, on the occasion of her completion of duty as Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney.

During the meeting, the Consul-General expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the Governor’s unwavering support and warm engagement throughout her tenure in New South Wales. She also noted with gratitude the Governor and her spouse’s gracious attendance at the Thai Festival organized by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in 2022.

Mrs. Khusakul highlighted the progress made in the close relationship between Thailand and Australia in recent years, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, culture, and tourism. Key milestones included the celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022, the Thai Prime Minister’s visit to Australia for the ASEAN–Australia Special Summit in 2024, and the Thai Foreign Minister’s visit to Sydney later that same year.

The Consul-General also expressed her appreciation for Australia’s commitment to strengthening regional ties through the Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. She commended the strategy as a reflection of the Australian Government’s dedication to deepening economic cooperation across all sectors, particularly by raising awareness among Australian businesses of trade and investment opportunities in Southeast Asia.

In addition, the Consul-General extended her gratitude to the New South Wales Government for its ongoing support of the Thai community, acknowledging its role in promoting Thai culture and fostering people-to-people connections within the state’s vibrant multicultural society.

In response, the Governor thanked the Consul-General for her dedicated service and extended her best wishes for Mrs. Khusakul’s next posting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of Thai–Australian relations in the years ahead.
