เมื่อวันที่ 17 มิ.ย. 2567 นางสาวอาจารี ศรีรัตนบัลล์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงแคนเบอร์รา พร้อมด้วยนางหัทยา คูสกุล กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ และคณะ ได้ไปเยี่ยมชมบริษัท Cochlear และรับฟังการบรรยายจากคณะผู้บริหารและผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านโสตวิทยาจากมหาวิทยาลัย Macquarie เกี่ยวกับเทคโนโลยีการแก้ไขปัญหาการได้ยินโดยผ่าตัดฝังอุปกรณ์ช่วยฟัง (Cochlear Implant) เพื่อทดแทนระบบของหูชั้นในที่บกพร่อง ซึ่งเป็นนวัตกรรมสำหรับการแก้ไขภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยินที่มีประสิทธิภาพและได้รับการยอมรับในประเทศต่าง ๆ ทั่วโลก
บริษัท Cochlear มีความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัยและพัฒนานวัตกรรมกับมหาวิทยาลัย Macquarie และดำเนินงานร่วมกับ Australian Hearing Hub และศูนย์ Next Sense เพื่อขับเคลื่อนโครงการแก้ไขปัญหาความบกพร่องทางการได้ยินสำหรับเด็กทารก โดยการตรวจคัดกรองเด็กทุกคนตั้งแต่แรกเกิด เพื่อให้เข้ารับการแก้ไขโดยเร็วที่สุด
ปัจจุบันออสเตรเลียสามารถตรวจคัดกรองผู้มีภาวะบกพร่องทางการได้ยินกว่าร้อยละ 98 ซึ่งเป็นอัตราที่สูงที่สุดในโลก ซึ่งจะช่วยให้เด็กมีพัฒนาการทางภาษาและการสื่อสารได้เหมาะสมตามช่วงวัย สามารถเข้าสู่ระบบการเรียนร่วมกับเด็กในวัยเดียวกันได้
ในโอกาสนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้หารือถึงแนวทางต่อยอดความร่วมมือระหว่างบริษัท Cochlear และมหาวิทยาลัย Macquarie กับหน่วยงานด้านสาธารณสุขและสถาบันอุดมศึกษาของไทย เพื่อนำประสบการณ์และแนวทางในการพัฒนาระบบการคัดกรองและแก้ไขปัญหาการได้ยินสำหรับเด็กแรกเกิดไปปรับใช้ในประเทศไทยต่อไป
On June 17, 2024, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand, along with Ms. Hataya Khusakul, the Consul-General in Sydney, visited Cochlear and received a briefing from the management team and audiology expert from Macquarie University regarding the technology of Cochlear Implants. These implants are a surgical solution to hearing impairments, replacing defective inner ear systems, and are a highly effective innovation recognized worldwide.
Cochlear has collaborated with Macquarie University in research and development and worked with the Australian Hearing Hub and Next Sense to drive the Australian Universal Newborn Hearing Screening program. Currently, Australia could screen over 98% of all newborns, the highest rate globally, ensuring children with hearing problems could have access to early intervention so that they could develop speech and communication skills appropriately for their age and participate in mainstream education with their peers.
On this occasion, the Ambassador discussed the potential for extending cooperation between Cochlear and Macquarie University with Thai public health agencies and higher education institutions. The aim is to apply their experience and methods in developing a screening and intervention system for newborn hearing impairments in Thailand.
