SPECIAL TOURIST VISA (STV)z

 

1. Eligible Applicants for STV

  • This type of visa is issued to eligible applicants who are Australian Nationals or Citizens OR Permanent Residents currently residing in Australia and their spouse, child or children (age under 20 years old) for the sole purpose of tourism only.

 

2. STV Conditions

  • STV is valid for a single entry into Thailand for a long-term stay for tourism purposes only.
  • Applications for STV can be submitted by those residing in the country with a low-rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases as determined fortnightly and officially by Announcement of the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand. However, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney reserve the right to put all applications on hold as deemed necessary until further notice.
  • The validity of STV is 3 months from the date of its issuance.
  • Upon entering Thailand, a stay permit will be granted to the visitor for a maximum period of 90 days. This permit may be extended while the visitor is in Thailand for a maximum of 2 times (twice only) with a maximum validity of 90 days for each extension before 30 September 2021
  • STV cannot be changed to any other type of visa during the duration of stay in Thailand.
  • If the STV holder is found to be in breach of the conditions for entry into Thailand, the stay permit will be revoked immediately and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand.

 

3. Pronouncement:

  • The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary as well as reject any application without prejudice.
  • The applicants must provide genuine documents and information. If the applicants are found to provide false documents or give false information, their applications will be rejected and be reported for further determination of appropriate action and future prohibition to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.
  • Visa processing time may vary depending on the demand and/or information to be reviewed which may take up to 15 working days.

 

4. STV Application Procedures

Each applicant must submit a complete online form together with the required documents* to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney

Visa Application form

· Download form, fill, print and sign where applicable

2.

One (1) passport-sized photograph affixes to the visa application form

· Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.

· Light background (passport standard) and no older than 6 months

3.

Australian Passport

· A minimum validity of six months until the date of travel

· Must have at least one blank page

4.

Photocopies of

· Your passport’s data page (A4 size copy)

· Your driver license OR photo card

· Your Australian Electronic Visa (for Permanent Resident in Australia)

5.

Proof of financial status

· A bank statement in the past six months showing a deposit account with the minimum fund of THB 10,000 per person, or THB 20,000 per family

· The applicant is required to provide one of the following evidences of payment:

5.1 A fully paid hotel reservation for your stay in Thailand issued by the hotel showing the duration of stay (at least 3 months), and hotel’s contact details and tax ID number;

5.2 A fully paid residential lease in Thailand issued by the lessor showing the duration of stay (at least 3 months), and the lessor’s contact details and tax ID number;

5.3 Condominium title deed in Thailand;

5.4 Agreement of hire-purchase or mortgage of immovable property with the minimum payment at least 2 installments.

COVID-19 health insurance

· A COVID-19 health insurance covering medical treatment expenditures of COVID-19, worth at least USD 100,000 during the entire stay in Thailand (policy must cover at least 3 months).  The insurance policy must clearly state that it includes expenditures occurring from COVID-19 treatments.

· List of recommended health insurance: Pacific Cross Health Insurance / Aetna/ Viriyah/ Navakij/ Axa / Tune/ Southeast Insurance/ LMG/ Asia Insurance/ Bangkok Insurance

Health Insurance

· A certificate of health insurance issued by Thai insurance companies covering the entire period of stay in Thailand containing the detail of coverage as follows; In-house patients of not less than THB 400,000/policy year, as for out-patients, not less than THB 40,000/policy year. Police Clearance Certificate

· “Police name check certificate” issued less than 3 months prior to submitting the visa application

Medical Certificate Form

· A complete “Medical Certificate Form” with a valid/legal rubber stamp of medical doctor to confirm its authenticity (this form can be downloaded from our website)

Visa fee

· AUD 120

· Pay by card/cash OR money order/ bank cheque paid to Royal Thai Consulate-General Sydney

5. Flights to Thailand

Option 1 Semi-commercial flights to Thailand

Certain airlines are now permitted to operate semi-commercial flights to Thailand, namely, Emirates, Etihad, EVA, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airline, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss Air, KLM, Air France and etc.

Option 2 Special chartered flights organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney

6. Application for the Certificate of Entry (COE)

Upon approving Special Tourist visa, the applicants will have to apply for the COE via https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

Please note the followings:

  • Upon entry into Thailand, all applicants who are departing from Australia required to undergo 10-day Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ). For more information, please visit http://hsscovid.com/ . An evidence of reservation for ASQ for a minimum period of 10 days from the date of the arrival in Thailand will be required for COE application.
  • All the applicants are required to obtain COVID-19 health insurance covering medical treatment expenditures of COVID-19, worth at least USD 100,000 during the entire stay in Thailand as part of the application to obtain COE. The insurance policy must clearly state that it includes expenditures occurring from COVID-19 treatments. List of recommended health insurance: Pacific Cross Health Insurance / Aetna/ Viriyah/ Navakij/ Axa / Tune/ Southeast Insurance/ LMG/ Asia Insurance/ Bangkok Insurance.

 

7. At the Departure Airport and upon Entry into Thailand

All applicants with approved STVs will be required to present the following documents to the airline check-in staff at the departure airport and concerned authorities upon arrival in Thailand:
