NON-IMMIGRANT VISA CATEGORY “M” (M Visas)
(Mass Media of Communication)

1. Eligible Applicants for M Visas

- This category of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to work as a film producer, journalist, or reporter.
- Filming The applicant must request in advance approval from the Thailand Film Office, Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sport.

- To work as a journalist or reporter, the applicant must request in advance approval from the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. For short term assignment, such as to cover news on natural disasters or international meetings/ sports competition which do not require media registration in advance, the applicant may apply for Non-Immigrant Visa Category “B”.    

2. M Visa Conditions

- The M Visa is valid for a single entry into Thailand.
- The M Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.
- The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information)
- If the M Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

3. M Visa Application Procedures

            Each applicant must submit a complete online form together with the required documents* to the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Sydney. The required documents are as follows:

Completed Visa Application Form

One (1) passport-sized photograph affixed to the visa application form

- Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm.

- White background and no older than 6 months

Passport

- A minimum validity of six months from the date of planned entry into Thailand

- Must have at least two empty pages

Proof of an Australian Electronic Visa (for non-Australian Nationals)

- Visa grant page or VEVO check status page

5.

Approval Note from the Government Agencies concerned in Thailand  

- An approval from Thailand Film Office, Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sport                               

6.

Company registration and invitation letter

- Copies of company documents must be signed by Board of Directors and affixed the seal of the company

7.

COVID-19 health insurance

- A COVID-19 health insurance for medical treatment expenditures of COVID-19, covering at least USD 100,000 during the entire stay in Thailand.  The insurance policy must cover a period of at least 3 months, and must clearly state coverage for expenditures occurring from COVID-19 treatments.

- List of recommended health insurers: AETNA/ Asia Insurance/ AXA / Bangkok Insurance/ LMG/ Navakij/ Pacific Cross Health Insurance / Southeast Insurance/ Tune/ Viriyah

Visa fee

- AUD 120 for single entry

- Payment can be made by cash, debit or credit card (payment in person at the Consulate-General only). For money order, or cheque, paid to “Royal Thai Consulate-General, Sydney”

 

4. M Visa processing times

- Visa processing time is usually 3 days
- Certain applications which require special consideration may take longer to process.

5. Remarks

- The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney reserves the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary as well as reject any application without prejudice.
- The applicants must provide genuine documents and information. If the applicants are found to provide false documents or give false information, their applications will be rejected and be reported for further determination of appropriate action and future prohibition to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.
- Visa processing fees are non-refundable regardless outcome.
- Visa processing fee is subject to change without prior notice.
